Intex Pool Vacuum – Above Ground Pool Cleaning Done Right
The Intex Pool Vacuum simplifies the process of cleaning and maintaining your above ground pool. Above ground pools often lack some of the filtration and pumping systems that are common with built in pools. Because of this, debris can accumulate a bit differently, which requires different cleaning approaches. Many people have found the Intex Pool Vacuum to be a solution to their cleaning troubles.
Above Ground Pool Requirements
Many above ground pools lack some of the filters and water moving systems that are common in built-in pools. Because of this, these pools can easily become dirty, compared to their in ground counterparts. In order to clean these pools effectively, the bottom of the pool must be swept with a soft broom. This stirs up the debris that has settled on the bottom of the pool and allows the skimmer to catch it. The skimmer can then be cleaned to remove everything from the pool.
Above ground pools have the same algae problems that are faced by in-ground pools. Because of this, considerations to manage this problem must also be made. Chlorine can be used to keep algae from growing in the pool. Typically some algae will grow and die; they will then settle at the bottom of the pool and will need to be swept or filtered out of the pool. If this isn’t done, then the lining and swimmers will be coated in dead, black algae.
Advantages of a Pool Vacuum
Pool Vacuums are commonly used to clean above ground pools. These vacuums are attached to the water pump that pumps water into the pool. This causes the suction to go through the vacuum and then the filtration system, instead of directly going through the filtration system. These machines allow you to clean the bottom of the pool as well as the sides, instead of just filtering the water. These vacuums often have a long handle that allows them to be pushed around the bottom of the pool much like a typical vacuum cleaning. The Intex Pool Vacuum does not have one of these handles and walks itself along the bottom of the pool. The suction that is created by the attached hose will allow the vacuum to suck up debris that has settled at the bottom of the pool as the vacuum moves across the pool.
Pros of the Intex Vacuum
Allows you to set the vacuum and leave
You can setup the vacuum and walk away to do something else. The sucking of the hose will remove debris from the bottom of the pool and allow the vacuum to roll on its wheels along the bottom of the pool.
Saves you from manually scrubbing the pool
These vacuums can clean a decently sized pool in an hour. If you are not thrilled with the level of cleanliness, leave the vacuum to run a bit longer.
Many pool vacuums have a short lifespan
This is not a common problem with Intex vacuums but any machine that is submerged is dependent on proper care to continue functioning well long term.
May require multiple passes to clean the pool
May get stuck on the lining if there are wrinkles
The Intex pool vacuum is a great way to clean above ground pools. They allow you to set them and walk away to complete other tasks while it filters and cleans the pool. This model is also self-propelled and will crawl across the pool without assistance so there is no vacuuming the pool like you vacuum the house.
